Did you know?
Here in the United States, every single hour, more than 2000 dogs and cats are
born compared to a mere 415 human births. At this staggering rate, annual births skyrocket to over 17 million dogs and 30 million cats.
Appoximately 15 million healthy, friendly companion animals are killed
in our shelters each year because of this pet overpopulation crisis. There aren't enough homes for them all.
We are grateful to those of you who
care enough to take in strays, sterilize them and find them good homes, rather than choosing to leave them to die a cruel death from starvation and
illness, or worse, being hit by a vehicle.
If you like a certain kind of breed, there are many pure breed rescue groups for almost all cats and dogs. Let's not buy any pets as long as we
have this terrible overpopulation problem.
Please adopt a pet from your local animal shelter or Humane Society. Our beloved "Matisse" came from a shelter several years ago.
She has been the greatest addition to our family.
